PUBLIC APPEAL TO RAISE £400,000:  to floodlight Harrogate’s principal War Memorial and the external facade of the Royal Hall and improve lighting in the Hall’s ambulatory.

Royal Hall Restoration Trust & Harrogate and District Improvement Trust

Donations are sought for the enhancement and floodlighting of the War Memorial and Prospect Square, and the enhancement and lighting of the exterior and interior of the Royal Hall.

These projects have been chosen to:

- mark the centenary of the end of the First World War:  floodlighting of the War Memorial is proposed, with the enhancement of Prospect Square in which it stands

- enhance the enjoyment and appreciation of the Royal Hall (10 years after its restoration):  floodlighting and enhancement of the frontage is proposed together with improving the lighting of the Hall’s ambulatory.

Donations received will be allocated between the projects by the two Trusts; work will be undertaken in stages as funds permit, in no particular order or to any particular timescale.  If the figure needed to complete all three projects is exceeded, then surplus funds will be expended on further enhancements agreed by the Trusts.  If funds fall short, then the two Trusts will apply them so far as practicable to carrying out one or more of the proposals.
